Dunne welcomes commitment to review rural funding

 

South Shropshire MP Philip Dunne has welcomed some additional funding from central government for Shropshire Council for later this year, alongside a commitment from the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government to review fairer funding for local authorities.

South Shropshire MP Philip Dunne this week signed a pledge to #PassOnPlastic with Sky Ocean Rescue – a commitment to reduce single-use plastic consumption. Mr Dunne in particular will focus on reducing use of single use plastic cups and water bottles.

After a hard fought campaign, Philip Dunne has been re-elected as Member of Parliament for the Ludlow Constituency. Mr Dunne increased his vote share to 54.3%, and nearly doubled his majority to 18.929 - a record for the Ludlow Constituency.

 Philip Dunne MP hosted his third Jobs Fair in Ludlow earlier today. Over 80 job seekers attended the event, where 26 exhibitors had over 150 local jobs and apprenticeships on offer.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics show the number of Jobseekers in the Ludlow Constituency has more than halved since the last General Election. There are now 519 claiming out of work benefits, down 50.76% from 1054 in May 2010.
